M@d woman gives birth Along Abuja Busy Highway, See what happened next
Roadside Miracle
It was just past midnight on April 3, 2026, in the quiet Kwaita Village, Kwali Area Council of Abuja, when something alarming caught the attention of the local police. A mentally challenged woman had just given birth, alone, by the roadside.
Officers of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad, on routine patrol, received the tip and rushed to the scene, unsure what they would find. The situation was tense.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, the Officer in Charge of the Gender Unit at Kwali Division acted immediately, leading her team to the scene. “The mother and her newborn were in a delicate state, but we were able to rescue them safely,” the statement read. Both were quickly taken to the General Hospital, Kwali, where they received urgent medical care and were later discharged in stable condition.
But the story didn’t end there. In accordance with welfare procedures, Mr Sadiq Kwali, Officer in Charge of Welfare for Kwali Area Council, was contacted. The mother and child were then transferred to the FCT Children’s Home in Wako, Gwagwalada Area Council, where they will receive proper care and protection.
CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, Commissioner of Police for FCT Command, praised the officers for their professionalism, noting the courage and empathy they showed despite the precarious situation.
He also urged the public to stay vigilant, report emergencies, and show compassion for vulnerable individuals in distress.
